Postpartum Doula Support
A mother’s capacity is low after giving birth. Her pregnant body, which was once filled with yang energy, warmth, and fullness, is now cold, empty, and carrying yin energy after expelling energy during childbirth. She does not have the strength to provide herself with the quality of care she needs during this healing period. We are naturally inclined to be cared for by others during this time, and traditionally, our village would provide that care. The demands in the postpartum period are immense. Mothers are learning to care for their newborns and meet their needs while also requiring significant healing and presence themselves. The way in which we are nourished and cared for during this time greatly influences our journey as mothers and beyond. I would be honored to protect and pour love into this sacred window for your family.
Timeline
I look forward to supporting your family beginning shortly after birth. The duration of your care is decided based on your family’s unique needs.
Included
𖤓 Day support
As a postpartum doula, I provide emotional and physical assistance, helping new parents navigate the challenges of infant care, including feeding, diapering, and soothing techniques. Additionally, I offer valuable resources and education on topics such as infant sleep, establishing routines, and self-care strategies for parents. My presence can alleviate stress by ensuring that parents have the guidance and reassurance they need, making the transition smoother. In addition, I often assist with light household tasks, allowing families to focus on bonding with their newborn. Below are ways in which I support families through this transition and mothers to heal.
- Support through birth experience processing and integration
- Supporting you to rest
- Supportive warming therapies such as herbal baths, heat packs, warm oil massage, and moxibustion
- Support with nourishing your family with foods that are slow cooked, nutrient dense, and that serve as medicine
- Supportive herbal remedies to aid in healing
- Support with basic newborn care and breastfeeding challenges
- Accompanying the new mother in public as she adjusts with her baby
- Support with simple household organization and errands (such as: light cleaning, grocery shopping, laundry, meal prep.)
☾ Overnight support
During an overnight support shift, I provide dedicated nighttime care for your newborn. My care allows parents to get uninterrupted sleep and focus on their own recovery while knowing their baby is being attended to with feeding, soothing, and diaper changes. This care can significantly improve a family’s overall physical and emotional well-being during the postpartum period.
Investment
- $35/hr daytime support (4 hour minimum)
- $45/hr overnight support (A typical night support shift is 10pm – 6am)
Together, we will curate a care schedule, taking into account your specific needs and desired frequency/duration of support.
Note: Your insurance company or HSA may be covering postpartum doula costs.
“My wife and I hired Izzy for postpartum doula support following the birth of our daughter. I can’t overstate how helpful she has been to us during the postpartum acclimation period. She has been truly instrumental in influencing my wife’s recovery. She is compassionate, understanding, and wonderful with the baby. She is everything you would want in a doula. Highly recommend!” – Josh Levey
