"Izzy, I honestly cannot imagine what this experience would have been like without you. Every step of the way you helped me feel strong, supported, and empowered. You showed me what birth can look like when a woman is embodied and trusting her power." -JF

My Birth Philosophy

I wholeheartedly believe in birth. I wholeheartedly believe in your ability to give birth. I also believe that birth works quite well when our environment and internal world work with birth, not against it. Did you know there is a beautiful concoction of hormones at play inside of you during labor like oxytocin, the love hormone, and natural pain and stress relieving endorphins to support you? Your body was created to birth.

Unfortunately, the environments in which we are birthing in, the fear of birth that society has instilled in us, our lack of support, knowledge, preparation, and trust in birth can all negatively influence our birth experience. Positive hormones that are meant to guide us smoothly through birth can be overtaken by hormones such as adrenaline, the fight or flight hormone, and cortisol, the stress hormone.

I’ve seen birth be the best day of a mothers life. I’ve witnessed women walk through the fire and come out having found their voice, their power, their strength, their healing. I believe birth is hard, that it can crack you wide open, but I will resist believing that it needs to be feared.

I am devoted to showing up for your family as a grounded, confident, and  experienced pillar of  consistent support. I am there so that you and your partner may feel at ease to surrender together into the intimate and vulnerable process of birth. There is so much this initiation has to offer you. My clients find peace having the support of someone who not only deeply knows them, but who is well versed in the sometimes unexpected and complex twist and turns of birthing a child and the vast labor and delivery medical system. When you and your partner move through this right of passage it is important that  you feel a sense of authority, clarity, trust, respect, and nurtured. No matter what your birth looks like, if you feel these things you will come out the other side feeling empowered.
